Trainee Program
The Anglo American Trainee Program is the greatest leverager of talent in the organization. Created in 2003, the program serves all the company’s business units. During the period between 2008 and 2009, 27 young people from all the units took part in the program. In 2009, the innovation in relation to the previous years was the presentation of an Innovation Project for the areas in which the new professionals would work.
During an 18 month period, in addition to technical visits and the development of the CI Project (Continuous Improvement), the trainees passed through the different areas in the company (a process called job rotation), participate in behavioral training and are accompanied and evaluated by the Human Resources area and by their immediate superiors. The program focuses on the development of competencies and the principles and values of the organization in order to ensure that the trainees are qualified to occupy strategic positions at the company.
In 2010, nickel operations (Codemin and Barro Alto) will receive eight trainees selected in 2009 from among the 9 thousand candidates, as was the case in 2008.
