People’s engagement
The leaders attend the monthly meetings in a constructive manner, when everybody’s engagement is encouraged so that the hazardous conditions are assessed and suitable control solutions are implemented.
Anglo American’s employees are represented by health and safety committees, according to the applicable legal requirements.
Formal agreements with unions
The collective union agreements partially cover the company’s health and safety issues:
Catalão and Ouvidor (niobium): assistance to the sick or injured employee and sick pay.
Catalão and Ouvidor (phosphate): sick pay, assistance to the sick or injured employee, assistance to the handicapped.
Niquelândia and Barro Alto: supplementary sick pay and PPE (personal protective equipment).
São Paulo and Exploration: PPE, health and safety committees, right to refuse work because of severe or imminent risk, first-aid, supplementary salary in case of sick pay.
Cubatão: supplementary sick and accident pay, guaranteed job to injured employee with complications, and health care for retired employees.
