Projects supported by the Municipal Fund for Child and Adolescent Rights

Bola na Rede Golaço Social (Ball in the Net, Social Supergoal) (Barro Alto) – Complete education project with methodology implemented by the Gol de Letra Foundation. It brings a series of cultural and sports activities that contribute to the development of children and adolescents in Barro Alta and Souzalândia. Amount allocated: 150,000 Reais.

Centro de Inclusão Digital (Centre for Digital Inclusion) (Barro Alto) – Installed at the head office of the Guardianship Council of Barro Alto. With capacity to attend up to 20 people per hour, it benefited 83 youngsters per day in 2009. This project received financial support for the amount of 47,035 Reais.

Programa Atleta do Futuro (Athlete of the Future Program) (Niquelândia/Barro Alto) – Socio-educational action to attend to children and adolescents (7 to 12 years old) with motor skills initiation lessons and pre-sports initiations. Amount allocated: 9,238.84 Reais.

Programa Educacional de Resistência às drogas e a Violência (Drugs and Violence Resistance Educational Program) (Barro Alto) – Project presented to the Municipal Education Secretariat and to the Goianésia Military Police’s 23rd battalion. The project seeks to prevent and reduce the use of drugs and violence among children and adolescents in public and private schools in the city of Barro Alto. In 2009, Anglo American allocated 5,400 Reais to this project.

In 2009, the following campaigns that were supported by Anglo American were also carried out in Cubatão:

Flu Vaccination Campaign – 1,900 people of the community were vaccinated.

STD/AIDS Internal and External Awareness Campaign – Estimated attendance: around 2,000 truck drivers received orientation on prevention.

Volunteering Action – Groups of volunteers donated new toys and set up a playground in the building of the São Vicente de Paulo Society, in Cubatão.
