Respect towards the environment

Anglo American adopts three fundamental principles in its relations with the environment (as well as in the Occupational Health and Safety areas):

Zero Mindset – apply in a consistent manner the mitigation hierarchy, so as to prevent and minimize environmental impacts resulting from our activities, products and services.

No repetition – take all measures necessary to take lessons from environmental impacts, incidents, audit results and other non-conformities, so as to prevent their repetition.

Non-Negotiable Standards and Rules – apply non-negotiable, shared environmental performance standards and procedures at all Group units as minimum requirement.

Also, Anglo American permanently analyzes the impacts caused by its greenhouse effect gas (GEE, in its acronym in Portuguese) emissions on water and energy use, biodiversity and waste disposal. Moreover, the company also maintains programs which seek the reduction of consumption of natural resources and support to environmental preservation initiatives.
